Job Location: Porto, Portugal.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

The candidate will perform hardware lab activities within the Connected Things (Cyber-physical systems) group, namely in the area of embedded electronics and IoT. The candidate is expected to contribute to current and future projects within the area of Cognitive Connected Solutions.

The candidate will work on the following tasks:

  • Perform maintenance and safety tasks to ensure the normal operation of the Hardware Lab;
  • Help users to comply with standard operating procedures of the Hardware Lab;
  • Manage the physical inventory of the Hardware Lab;
  • Provide technical input and operational feedback for equipment and process improvements in the Hardware Lab;
  • Contribute to prototype fabrication;
  • Contribute to testing, debugging, and validation of devices being used in current and future projects;
  • Document, log, and report project results.

Personal Skills:

The candidate will work in close contact with hardware development, from the concept/design stage until the testing and debugging of prototypes. Experience in PCB layout and designing RF, analogue, and mixed signals using Altium/Cadence/KiCAD will be highly valued. Candidates with experience in developing firmware and software for embedded devices or IoT are preferred. The candidate must be able to work autonomously and show excellent English communication skills.

Academic Qualifications:

 Level 4 or Level 5 in the areas of Electronics, Embedded Electronics, IoT, Hardware or similar.

Other Skills:

  • Familiar with Design-For-Cost & Design-For-Manufacturing paradigms and PCB In-Circuit Test procedures;
  • Experience with electronics lab testing equipment;
  • Embedded systems programming using C and python.

Professional Experience:

Experience in R&D projects, embedded electronics or IoT.
